Quit smokeing programs
|
There are various quit smoking programs available
nowadays. All of them may not be equally effective so it
is ideal to thoroughly understand the details of all the
programs before settling on the one that suits you.
The oldest quit smokeing program is known as Cold Turkey
Method which makes the smokers literally live without
smoking the cigarette or tobacco. The program has the
least rate of success like just up to 5 percent and that
too after 6 months.
The use of nicotine replacement therapy – NRT is the
most known quit smokin program. The NRT- Nicotine
replacement therapy products include various options
such as: transdermal patches which instill nicotine
across the skin, the gums, the inhalers and the nasal
sprays.
The methods like gums, lozenges, spray and inhalation
all causes very spiteful tang in the back of the throat
whereas the patches are not so effective to avert strong
and sudden desire of smooking cigarettes. With the help
of any such quit smokeing programs out of every 10
smokers who are seriously willing to give up smoking
habits, hardly 1 smoker succeeds and that too after 6
months.
Zyban or Wellbutrin is yet another known and effective
quit smokeing program which is said to just double the
chances of giving up smoking habits if taken alone. When
the drug is taken in combination with the Nicotine
Replacement Therapy-NRT the chances of giving up
smokeing habits rises up to 20% after recommended use of
6 months.
Chantix on the other hand has been doing wonders and is
widely acclaimed as the ‘Magic Pill’ ever meant to help
seriously willing smokers to give up their habits. The
producers of the pill Pfizer Inc claims of up to 44
percent success ratio after using the recommended doses
for 6 months. The researchers on the contrary state that
the ratio is just 20 percent.
